Module 8 , Video Reviews

1.  I selected the video " The measure of All Things : Greek Art and the Human Figure" because the first video that we were assigned to watch was about the sculpture and detailed depictions  and positions of the human body as a sculpture so i thought that in one way or another they would coincide based of their titles.

2. The Key concepts that I learned in the first video , " More Human than Human " was that in most cases in ancient times , when sculptures of the human body were created they had unrealistic and exaggerated body features that didn't match the features of an actual person . For instance , the nomadic way of depicting the body was 2 dimensional and show each part of the body from, whatever angle it is drawn from .

The key concepts that i learned from the second video " The measure of all things : Greek art and the human figure " was how far sculpting the human body has come along from ancient times . In this video they spoke about how Greek sculptures inspired people in Greece to do things like work out to try to match these sculptures because it was thought that the sculptures are how people are suppose to be seen .

3.  The videos relate to the readings in the text in ways that they both illustrate the influences sculptors had to create sculptures of the body. For instance , Athletes , kings , and queens . They both explain how some sculptures are sometimes based off culture and personal preference. Also , they explain how sculptures influence other people .

4. I think the films did a great deal of explaining the evolution of sculptures of the human body. For instance , illustrating how sculptures went from unrealistic and exaggerated to trying to or i should say actually creating sculptures that depict movement .
